Ennio Morricone & Nino Rota Story

Today, Ennio Morricone and Nino Rota are rightfully considered icons of world film music. The show dedicated to their work will present the most important stages of the two composers' careers, from iconic songs of the sixties to melodies written for Sergio Leone's films and created for Hollywood.

MARCELLO ROTA

He graduated from the A. Vivaldi Conservatory in Alexandria with a French horn class and the Kijana Academy in Siena with an orchestral conducting class. Having made his debut with the RAI Symphony Orchestra in Turin, Marcello has been working in prestigious concert halls throughout Europe since 1995. He conducted famous orchestras of the world. Marcello Rota worked at La Scala for several seasons. And since 2004 he has been the chief guest conductor of the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.Among the famous soloists he accompanied are Rastropovich, Geringas, Rampal, Kiri Te Kanava and many others.
A special place in the biography of the artist is occupied by participation in the concert of Andrea Bocelli and the Toscanini Symphony Orchestra of Parma in Bologna, which was attended by Pope John Paul II.
The famous conductor's large opera repertoire includes music by Rossini, Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti – more than forty works in total. The Maestro's work has earned well-deserved success among the public and critics.

SUSANNA RIGACCI

The Swedish singer of Italian origin received her musical education at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence. She became world famous thanks to the vocal accompaniment of Morricone's music to Sergio Leone's films «The Good, the Bad, the Evil» «Once upon a Time in the Wild West», «Fistful of dynamite». Rigacci has participated in numerous live concerts around the world. The opera Diva sings in six languages and works in prestigious opera houses and concert venues.
The vocalist collaborates with prestigious orchestras around the world. In 2011, Rigacci participated in the Sanremo Festival. In the summer of the same year, she gives a solo concert In Canto Cinema. The program includes musical hits from world-famous films. Since 2001, Susanna has been a guest star at concerts and recordings of Ennio Morricone's music, and since 2020 she has been a special guest at the Musical Oscar.

LUDOVICO FULCI

He graduated from the Conservatory of St. Cecilia in piano and the Licinio Refice Conservatory in Frosinone. In 1987, he began his career in the field of film music. First as a pianist and keyboardist, and then as an arranger. He works with major Italian composers to create film soundtracks.
Fulci has more than 100 films in his luggage, to which he arranged and reduced melodies. Since the two thousandth he has been collaborating with Ennio Morricone, taking an active part in the creation of all the composer's soundtracks.
And in addition, he participates in the concert activities of an unsurpassed master. Ludovico combines his «classical» activity with a career as a jazz musician, playing in world-famous bands.

NELLO SALZA

He studied trumpet playing at the St. Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. He began his career in the orchestra of the San Carlo Theater in Naples, then worked at the Opera House of Rome. Today he is the first trumpeter of the National Academy of Saint Sicily, the Regional Orchestra of Tuscany and the RAI National Symphony Orchestra. He teaches at the Naples Conservatory.
In 2021, at the Sanremo Festival, Salza performs works dedicated to the memory of Ennio Morricone, with whom he has collaborated since 1984. Together they recorded 250 soundtracks.
In 1997, in tandem with Nicola Piovani, he recorded the soundtrack to the film «Life is Beautiful», and was awarded an Oscar for it.
Nello participated in the recording of Morricone's song «La Lettera di Lincoln» for the film «The Abominable Eight» by Quentin Tarantino. The song won the Oscar and Golden Globe Awards for Best Original Soundtrack.

MARCELLO ROTA

Marcello has been working in prestigious concert halls throughout Europe since 1995. He conducted the orchestras of the San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Enti Arena in Verona, the Italian National Orchestra, the Swiss-Italian Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Munich State Opera Orchestra.

A concert with a theatrical soul

The program will allow you not only to hear the works of unsurpassed masters live, but also to make a unique emotional journey through the waves of Rota and Morricone's creativity, in which eternal themes are intertwined with the inner world of the creators. The ideological inspirer of the project was Marcello Rota, a world–renowned conductor. The music from the films is performed by soloists who have gone down in the history of Italian and world cinema: Nello Salza (trumpet), Ludovico Fulci (piano) Susanna Rigacci (soprano). Under the impeccable guidance of Maestro Morricone, they have given more than 500 concerts around the world.
